Almost every custom cup printer in the US quotes a 250-unit minimum order quantity (MOQ). It's not an arbitrary number — it reflects the real fixed costs behind screen printing.

Setup cost is fixed, regardless of order size

Every design requires creating a custom screen (or set of screens, for multi-color designs), calibrating the press, and running test prints before production starts. That setup cost is the same whether you order 100 units or 10,000 — spreading it over too few cups makes the per-unit price impractical for both the buyer and the printer.

Why 250 specifically

250 units is roughly the volume at which setup cost stops dominating the per-unit price and material/labor costs take over. Below that, most printers either refuse the order or charge a steep small-batch surcharge that erases any savings versus buying pre-printed stock cups.
